Celebrating the life of
Roland H. Wuest, Jr.
June 21, 1926 - January 25, 2017
Roland Wuest, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 surrounded by family at Hospice Savannah.
He was born on June 21, 1926, in Metuchen, New Jersey, to Roland and Catherine Wuest. He and his first wife, Dorothy, raised their three children in the home he built on Grove Avenue, across the street from his boyhood home. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Edison, NJ after 45 years, and moved to Summerton, SC in 1993. He served as a deacon at Lake Marion Baptist Church in North Santee, SC. From his father, Roland learned a love of nature and ornamental gardening, which he enjoyed his entire life. He also loved collecting coins, working crossword puzzles, and watching westerns, but nothing gave him more joy than his family and his faith in God. Roland was predeceased by his parents, sister Ruthe Foster, brother Ralph, and first wife Dorothy Gavron Wuest, and second wife Dorothy Knight Wuest.
He is survived by his children, Thomas Wuest (Patricia) of Savannah; Barbara Wuest of Metuchen, NJ, Susan Myer (William) of Pittstown, NJ, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Roland’s final resting place will be Woodbridge Memorial Gardens in Woodbridge, New Jersey.
Remembrances may be made to Hospice Savannah, PO Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.

My heartfelt condolences to all of you. Roland was a deacon at Lake Marion Baptist Church when I moved here. He was a very faithful in our church and obviously loved our Lord. It is with sorrow we updated our website with all the information from this website regarding visitation and final interment. God bless all of you. He was kind, friendly and always sweet with everyone at church. He is missed now.

I remember getting the "garden tour" in Edison behind Roland & Dot's home. I was floored when told he was the gardener assuming since it was so gorgeous, it had to have been a professional. Well, he was a professional and obviously shared his passion with Tom too! My deepest condolences to Tom, Patricia, Jesse, TJ & Emily and also to Susie & Barbara and their families. May you all share your memories & remembrances always to keep both his & Dot's memories alive.

Roland brought so much joy to Freddy and me, he was kind, considerate and always interested in our lives and what makes us happy. My family and friends here in Myrtle Beach fell in love with him immediately. A gentleman with the sweetest heart, so humble always thinking of others. We loved to share hydrangea clippings, he taught me so much about gardening and that like many things in life if requires patients and dedication and I would see the fruits of my labor.... We thank the Lord that he was a special part of our lives and that Roland is and will always be our Brother In Christ. Roland loved talking with us about his life growing up and building his families home. Roland so loved his children and grandchildren and was proud of each of them. Blessings to all and many thanks for sharing your father with us. Martha
